Avoid a Facebook Disabled Ad Account
There’s no worse feeling than putting in hours of work only to have it taken away by a disabled ad account. It happens all the time. Facebook will deactivate your ad account for violating their policies. Sometimes they even disable ad accounts for no reason, in which case you’ll usually have no problem winning the appeal. But why put yourself through all the stress of dealing with a Facebook disabled ad account? Why not just set everything up for success right from the start?
In this article we’re going to talk about the best steps you can take to avoid being locked out of a Facebook ad account and unable to run ads for your dropshipping business. As a dropshipping business owner that relies heavily on Facebook ads for the majority of traffic, ecommerce businesses suffer drastically when they lose their ads account. Let’s avoid it!
Create Multiple Ad Accounts
Within your Facebook Business Manager you have the opportunity to create 3 to 5 ad accounts under the same account. Once you create your business manager, go ahead and create your first ad account immediately. It’s good practice to “warm up” each ad account before launching a full campaign. We usually start with a $25 engagement ad to gain some social proof for our Facebook business page prior to launching our first dropshipping purchase conversion campaign.
Doing so not only helps the Facebook algorithm trust your ad account, but it helps you unlock other ad accounts within the same business manager as well.
Once you’ve spent the first $25 and received your first bill, go ahead and create a second account account within the same Business Manager. We suggest repeating the same process until you have about 3 to 5 ad accounts located under the same Business Manager.
Add Admins
Another good idea to avoid a Facebook disabled ad account is to invite someone to join the account as an administrator. Ideally, this person would be a family member or close friend who you can trust with your ad account. Having multiple Facebook users listed as administrators on the same ads account builds credibility for that account. You’ll be less likely to be flagged or shut down randomly. Follow these steps to add someone to your business manager:
Verify Your Facebook Business Manager
This is probably the best strategy to avoid a Facebook disabled ad account. Facebook likes legal businesses, and will often side with the business owner when it comes to policy violations and random shut downs.
It’s always a good practice to create an LLC, sole proprietorship, or other business entity for your store. This process is very cheap and easy to do online in most states.
Once you’ve created a legal business, you can go to the “Security Center” section located within the Facebook Business Manager to verify your business. The process is very straightforward and you’ll be verified within one to three business days.
Verifying your Business Manager will protect all of the ad accounts within it from shutdown. We’ll create an LLC and then add DBAs or “fictitious names” for each Shopify store we set up. This way we keep everything organized and fully protected from liabilities.
Create Multiple Business Managers
Each personal Facebook profile has the opportunity to create around five Business Managers. This is a soft estimation, sometimes Facebook allows only three and sometimes they allow more than five.
We suggest that once you have one Business Manager set up with several active ad accounts to create another Business Manager. Follow the same process used to warm up the other ad accounts, then rinse and repeat.
By the end of this process you’ll have a full arsenal of ad accounts that are set up and ready to go for advertising.
Avoid Violating Facebook Ad Policies
We highly suggest before running any ads to take a look at Facebook’s ad policies. You might be surprised at some of the things that may get your ad account shut down. Some of the common ad policies we see dropshippers violate include:
- Using too much text within their ad creatives. Images and videos can only consist of no more than 20% text within each frame
- Making outrageous claims about a product, such as “lose 50 pounds in one week with our fitness system.”
- Infringing on copy rights of major companies by using video clips from their websites or marketing campaigns

Avoid a Facebook Disabled Ad Account
There’s several things you can do from the start to avoid dealing with a disabled ad account. It’s important to make sure you do these five things right away because you’ll run into major headaches, especially if your first ad account or business manager is disabled.
Again, follow these five steps to avoid a Facebook disabled ad account:
- Create multiple ad accounts
- Add close friends or family members as admins
- Verify your Facebook Business Manager
- Create Multiple Facebook Business Managers
- Avoid violating Facebook’s ad policies
So what about those people who have already had an ad account or Facebook Business Manager deactivated? There is still hope for you!
Appeal Appeal Appeal
Don’t get discouraged if you have an ad account that’s been disabled. Facebook gives you the opportunity to appeal the decision as many times as you want. Even if they denied your first attempt and said to “consider the decision final” it is not final.
It’s all about getting your appeal in front of an actual person to review it. The majority of the time appeals are accepted or denied automatically by Facebook’s system. The more times you appeal the more likely you’ll get your appeal in front of an actual employee. If you believe you didn’t do anything to violate the ad policies, it shouldn’t take too many attempts to recover your ad account.
The best way to respond to an appeal is to state that you received a notification for an ad policy violation that you didn’t commit. Then look up the specific ad policy they say you violated. Write a few paragraphs about how you didn’t break any of the policies listed under the violation. Tell them how you need Facebook to run your business, and thank them for their time.
If you did nothing wrong you will eventually have your ad account reactivated. If you read through their ad policies and realize you did violate a policy you should write a different appeal script.
You should apologize for violating the policy. Tell them that you went back and read through their policies. Let them know exactly what you did to break the policy. Explain to them why you understand it was wrong and state that you won’t commit that violation again. Ask them what steps you can take to reactivate your account. If you can get this script in front of a real person they may reactivate your account, otherwise you may have to try the next method.
Use a Family Member or Close Friend’s Account
If you’re unable to create a new Facebook ads account or business manager look to the people you trust the most for help. You will be able to create a business manager using another person’s account and add yourself as an admin with full access. If Facebook has flagged your IP address or your address, try asking a family member or friend who lives somewhere else to get it set up for you.
This is the best possible option to get a fresh start using Facebook Business Manager if you’ve had an ad account or business manager deactivated.
Once you’re in, follow the guide above to prevent losing access to your ad manager again.
Long Shipping Times Cause Issues
Facebook sends surveys to customers who purchased your products through your ads. If their orders haven’t arrived to them by the time they get the survey they’ll probably give you a negative rating. If your customer feedback store gets too low, Facebook will shut your ad account down. There’s two things you can do to solve this issue:
(1) Change the Survey Delivery Time
To avoid a low customer feedback score from customers who haven’t received their packages yet, it’s very important to change the survey delivery time. Typically, this is set to send to your customer within 2 weeks of them engaging with your advertisement. You can manually change this to 8+ weeks by following the steps in the following video by Scott Hilse:
(2) Make the Switch to Zendrop
Zendrop is quickly taking the dropshipping world by storm. Forget about dealing with AliExpress suppliers who are non-transparent about their long shipping times and fake tracking numbers. Zendrop has changed the game by offering express shipping options for all of their products.
Using the relationships they’ve built with trusted, high quality suppliers they are able to guarantee faster shipping times, offer lower prices, and remove all the headaches of dealing with AliExpress.
Faster shipping times means higher customer feedback scores which will avoid a Facebook disabled ad account. They also offer things like private labeling, custom packaging, a personal US dropshipping agent, and product sourcing.

Conclusion: Avoid a Facebook Disabled Ad Account Using These Steps
There is nothing worse than seeing the error message at the top of your ads manager and “Account Disabled” where it should say “Active” for your ad campaigns. As long as you follow these steps and avoid blatantly violating Facebook’s advertising policies you shouldn’t ever deal with the headaches of a disabled ad account.
Also, if you’re just getting into dropshipping and looking to create your first store, now is still a great time to get started. Shopify has extended their free trial from 14 to 90 days saving you $90 over your first three months.
