Best eCommerce Books 2020
“Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki
This was the first book about making money that I read when I first started my eCommerce journey. I remember we had an 8 hour bus trip back to our home field so I googled some books to read. I came across “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and after reading all of the positive reviews I was sold. I downloaded the book in the kindle app on my phone and began reading.
Robert talks about how poor people work for money and how rich people make money work for them. He goes into detail about how millionaires diversify their income streams while making their money work for them. His mindset and his strategies are absolutely brilliant. His book completely changed my mindset about making and growing personal wealth. If you’re looking for a book to kickstart your eCommerce journey start with Robert’s “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and change your life forever.

“Blue Ocean Strategy” by W. Kim and R. Mauborgne
I first read excerpts of “Blue Ocean Strategy” taking entrepreneurship classes in college. I didn’t really appreciate it and understand the concepts until I got into ecommerce and faced a red sea of competition. Using the strategies in this book, I’ve created a successful dropshipping business by establishing myself apart from the thousands of competitors that fill this growing industry.
First, what is a red sea? A red sea is your typical marketplace with dozens of companies fighting each other to win customers over from the competitors. Usually price wars take over, driving profits for everyone in the industry down. So, what’s a blue ocean? Imagine a marketplace where you have no competitors, customers flock to you, and profits increase every month. The concepts in this book will allow you to make your competitors completely irrelevant in any industry your in. It focuses on eliminating, raising, reducing, and creating aspects of your business that will completely set you apart from your competitors. I highly suggest anyone doing business to read “Blue Ocean Strategy,” especially if your interested in ecommerce and need to find a way to make competition irrelevant.
“Extreme Ownership” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin
Think you know about leadership? I thought I did as well, but these navy seals completely changed my perspective on what leadership is. “Extreme Ownership” is written by two navy seal leaders who commanded the platoon that included American Sniper Chris Kyle while fighting in Iraq. The theme of the book is “how navy seals lead and win.”
The awesome thing about this book is how it connects the lessons learned on the battlefield to the business world. After the intense introduction, each chapter represents a vital leadership lesson learned on the battlefield in Iraq. Each chapter has three sections. First, a battlefield story about how the leadership lessons were learned and implemented. Second, a definition of the leadership lesson in layman’s terms so you fully understand what they’re talking about. Third, a real story that relates the leadership lesson to the business world. After retiring from the Navy, Jocko and Leif started a business consulting company that teaches executives and managers about leadership. Each business story is related to the companies they have worked with as business consultants. If you need to take ownership of your life or see yourself in a leadership role, READ this book!
