Dropshipping Product Guide
New to dropshipping? Checkout this dropshipping product guide validation checklist before you decide which products to sell. Finding winning products is not easy. At a quick glance many products may seem like winners, but a little more research will show otherwise. Before jumping the gun and selling, use this checklist to cross check the products you’ve selected. This dropshipping product guide will allow you to save time and money from wasted product testing in 2020. Does your product pass this validation checklist?
Does the product solve a problem?
Problem solving products are the easiest to sell to cold traffic. When a product solves a problem the reason to purchase it is intuitive. If someone is experiencing the problem a product solves it makes the buying decision much simpler. Therefore, you should consider focusing on a product that solves a problem.
An example of a problem solving product is a plunger. Everyone at one time or another needs a plunger to unclog their toilets. It’s a problem that needs a solution. People may already have their own plungers that are probably outdated. Create a kick ass video of this innovative plunger with enticing ad copy and watch sales begin to flow in!
Does this product have a large target market?
Products within larger niches or products that appeal to everyone have a higher scaling potential. It’s common sense, if there’s a larger audience you’ll have more potential buyers and more people to advertise to.
Household items, electronics, health/beauty, and pet products all represent areas with large target markets. Dropshipping products like these give you more room to scale once you’ve found a winner.
Is the product new or hard to find in traditional stores?
The best dropshipping products are those that can’t easily be found somewhere else. If you could easily find the same product on Amazon or your local Walmart, why would you purchase it from a random website?
One of the greatest high ticket dropshipping ideas are selling bounce houses. Have you ever seen a bounce house at any local store? No.
Build a trustworthy brand by finding reputable suppliers to fulfill your orders. Reach out to them to learn their processing and shipping times making sure they’re up to speed.
Is the product unique and impressive?
Products that have are unique and have a “Wow Factor” tend to work best. As Seen On TV products are good examples of “Wow Factor” products. Quirky & fun products also tend to work well.
The fidget spinner was unique when it became popular a few years ago. They couldn’t be found in stores at the time and dropshippers made millions.
Is the product in an uptrend or downtrend?
It is wise to focus on a product that is starting an uptrend so that you can sell it for as long as possible. You can use Google Trends for this.
Some products, such as bounce houses, are seasonal so they sell much better in one part of the year than the other. Check Google Trends to determine the seasonality of your chosen product.
Are there any competitors doing well with this product?
Finding a competitor who is actively running ads for the product is a great sign. No one will actively run ads for a product that isn’t making them money.
The Facebook Ad library is a great resource to stalk competitors’ ads. Once you find someone selling your product on Facebook type their page into the library to gain crucial information such as the specific videos and ad copy they’re currently using.
Does the product have a track record of selling well?
In order to avoid wasting time testing bad products, focus on products that are proven to sell well. You can use AliExpress & the dropshipping center to get insight about products there. However, most big players will not be using AliExpress to fulfill their orders so asking Chinese suppliers is another great way to find hidden products that are proven to sell.
Would you or someone you know be interested in buying this product?
Getting real opinions from people is another great way to gauge whether or not a product could be a winner. Ask your friends and family what they think!
Remember, your personal opinion doesn’t matter. What matters is the consumer. Will consumers be interested and willing to spend money to get this product?
